The Issues

Transit users need 24 hour access, 7 days a week, on an expanded number of routes, to guarantee access to and from work and school.

Passups & Overcrowded Buses

Bus passups, where a bus passes people waiting at a stop because it’s too full, or where the first (and sometimes second and third) bus doesn’t have enough room on it to take all the passengers at the stop, have become all too common in Vancouver. Even if you make it on the bus, you’ll probably have difficulty finding a seat, or even having enough personal space to move and to breathe

Transit riders need to be able to depend on a safe, sufficient, and timely commutes on transit.

No Late Night Service

The lack of late night routes leaves large portions of the city underserved, especially in the suburbs. This can contribute to unsafe situations for transit riders who have long wait-times at transit stops due to reduced numbers of busses running, and long walks home after riding transit due to reduces routes, after dark.

Many students work jobs that start or end outside of regular transit service hours in order to work around their class schedules.

Transit users need 24 hour access, 7 days a week, on an expanded number of routes, to guarantee access to and from work and school.

Lack of Representation

The transit system needs to be more responsive to transit demand levels, ensuring that riders can get to where they need to go, when they need to be there.

Transit users have minimal influence over how transit is run in Vancouver, which is why we’re seeing so many problems. Unlike other regions in the GVRD – who have representation on Translink’s Mayor’s Council– UBC, despite a rapidly increasing number of residents and being one of the busiest transit destinations in the city, has no formal representation at Translink.

We need the Translink Board of Directors to listen and be accountable!
